WiFi VoIP - Wireless internet telephony

Wi-Fi, short for “Wireless Fidelity”, was intended to allow mobile devices such as laptop computers and personal digital assistants (PDAs), to connect to local networks.

Wi-Fi networks are already in place in many companies and where they are not they can be deployed fairly quickly. VoIP phones can easily be used where Internet is available. Wi-Fi VoIP has received a further boost with the Skype desktop application which is compatible with Windows Mobile devices. Wi-Fi is a privileged wireless technology for getting connectivity to pocket PCs. eople can use IP phones wherever an Internet connection is available, and VoIP call quality is rapidly improving to the point where in many cases it’s equal to or better than cellular.
